I like to think I appreciate art, but do I really?
Sure you’ll see me at all the “right” art events around town, but do I really “get it”? Does it matter? Do I care?

I go to see art both here in Kuwait and whenever I travel because I like looking at things that please my eye. But do I understand it? I’ve never really thought of that.

I don’t stare at a painting for long stretches of time, nor do I look for any meaning that could shed some light on the artist’s thought process. Nor do I understand its value either; you can explain till you turn blue in the face why a certain painting by an relative unknown is priced so astronomically.. and I’ll nod along pretending to understand, but I really don’t.

And since I’m not an “art collector”, it doesn’t really matter..
