In Celebration of the Love

Christmas morning by Lyn Evans
Every corner of the earth may celebrate Christmas, but I can promise you this: that no two families celebrate it the same. There’s a different tradition, a different perspective for each individual… and that’s why they begin grilling us as children: What does Christmas mean for you?
The established holiday of Christmas reminds me of religion—a structured empire, a set of established rules and traditions, helping to bind together a clan, a community, of people. The meaning of Christmas is like faith. Faith is the core and cornerstone of religion: it is the only thing that matters, the only thing that breathes life or essence or any worth into the structure and idea of a religion.
The Meaning takes on many names, faces, feelings, interpretations, misinterpretations. The power and mystery of faith is attributed to God, Allah, Buddha—whatever the name is. The name does not matter. The robes and costumes and ceremonies don’t matter. The meaning matters. All major faiths revolve around one message, don’t they?
Love.
They preach tolerance, not hate; they encourage you bringing out the best in you, not the worst; kindness, goodwill to fellow man, and harmony. LOVE.
Just so, the meaning of Christmas—or any other such holiday—is one emotion, one value, one power, and one truth. Love.
