Christmas Holiday Greetings by maremarie
The tree is decorated, a live breathing mess of green. If forests celebrated winter Carnival, behold here their costume. The baubles glisten like tears, the rustling of paper wrapping sounds like the last breaths of the ill and dying. Spicy and sweet aromas drifting from the oven—I go to check it occasionally, reminding myself not to place my head too far within the lion’s raging-hot mouth—bring wetness to my eyes, and tie my stomach into knots far more elaborated and kinky than those around those lifeless boxes I have wrapped for you. Because without you, actually, Christmas really is… just, another lonely day.
