Love Me Still

Don’t be afraid.
Venture out to your balcony,
Ignore all other senses that seek to consume you but don’t;
Just open your eyes,
Look at the moon dripping light and languor on your curtain and
your pillow.
Remember the good times—not the sad, never the sad, now—
And you’ll see,
If you stare hard enough
Up in that labyrinth of stars,
My own eyes shining back at you,
Mirroring the colors of the sea and the sensation
Of our souls as closely intertwined as our bodies.
The midnight breeze will bring to your ears the promises
Of yes, of forever, of undead devotion, of timeless triumphs,
The shadows will crawl close and tumble together
To form shapes of two people running, singing, dreaming,
Tumbling in the darkness around you with a sensuality you’d
nigh forgotten.
Then I believe you will remember
Many things of the past,
Among which there drifts the quaint little fact of how much
You love me still.
