I know it’s all mangled and wrangled and it’s droopy a little at the edges
(that’s your fault, by the way, but it really doesn’t matter),
but it’s yours for the taking (in other words: I hope you take it).

It’s okay if you’re looking at the sun—no really—because actually
I picked this spot for a reason;
They told me that this place called Santorini has the most beautiful
sunsets,
almost as beautiful as you
(but not quite!),
and I really wanted to take you there,
but the issue is that we’re pretty much rooted to the spot.
When the wind blows, however, I’ve asked it to keep our petals together
and we’ll take a trip abroad, I promise.
So anyway this was the next best thing,
just as I consider myself the next best thing,
because I’m sure you’ve met a lot of best things out there,
But that doesn’t really matter either, anymore,
because I’ve decided that—
as corny and flowery as it sounds—
You are the best thing that ever happened to me.
