“God tends to use silence to teach us that we are responsible for what we say. Sometimes he uses tiredness so that we can understand the value of waking up.” –Chronicle: Dialogues with the Master: The Love in the Details
Without bitter coldness of the storms, would you so readily drink in the kisses of the sun? Without sickness, how would you appreciate health? Without a moment of doubt, how could you embrace the discovery of faith? If you’ve never had the wind knocked out of you, you’ve never tasted a next gulp of air so sweet. Without the pangs of loneliness or hunger, how can you rejoice at the sudden fullness of your heart and stomach? Without the absence of a loving embrace, would your returning caresses be so passionate?
When the world turns upside down and it feels like the sky is falling on my head, I merely am given a chance to roll up my sleeves, flex my muscles, grab the canvas of my life, and turn it right-side up. It returns me to my natural—and if not natural, ideal—state of being: diehard optimistic.
Everything does happen for a reason. Why not make the most of it?
