“THE COLOURS I SEE WHEN I DREAM OF YOU” by Tara Turner
Some people claim they do not dream in colors, and I mourn at the lost zest of their dreams. Yet others dream with great vibrancy and energy, caught up in a vivid enchantment that, like a spell, leaves you with no trace of memory once it has been broken. I amone of the lucky ones, who both dreams in colors and remembers herdreams—at least when I dream of you.The dream is like a canvas, littered with a rainbow of emotion. The soft mournful blues after a sorrow, the harsh raw redness after a misunderstanding. The golden flood of love and desire, or the spattering of copper and lavender like butterflies broken free from the core of my body, winging their way through my midnights. The colors I see when I dream of you, they follow me in my waking life and dance across the sky and across your face. They mirror the redness of your kiss, the walnut tones of your beard and hair, the sea’s greens and grays and golds caught up in the irises of your eyes.
