Each life is a book. It’s unwritten, until you write it. It begins with you and ends as you do. There are plenty of other authors around you, countless who have come before and countless who will follow, and
you will be inspired by many of them. You will seek to follow their footsteps, inkstains, page creases. But they can’t tell you exactly how to write your book. There are no rules. No right. Your book is your own. No one can tell you how to write your book because it isn’t written yet. Your book is unpredictable, because your life is unpredictable. It is unwritten, as your life is unlived.

So what are you afraid of? The next chapter, the transition, the end—is all yours. You are the only one who will write all of those, because you are the only one who actually truly can.

Sure, you’ll make mistakes. They’re your own, and although you can’t go backwards in a typewriter, there’re plenty more blank lines below to compromise with. If you need to.
